WHAT IS ROCKET® YOGA?

Rocket® Vinyasa Yoga, also known as Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, is based on the dynamic sequences created by Larry Schultz, a longtime student of the founder of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, K. Pattabhi Jois. Rooted in the traditional Ashtanga system, Rocket® Yoga honors its foundation while introducing a more accessible, playful, and progressive approach to the practice.

Although Rocket® Yoga and traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga share the same roots, they each have their own unique qualities. Exploring both systems offers students the opportunity to deepen their practice, cultivate greater creativity, and move beyond some of the limitations of the traditional sequence-based progression, while maintaining respect for its lineage.

I never had the opportunity to meet Larry Schultz, the creator of Rocket® Yoga, in person. However, through the wisdom, stories, and teachings shared by my teacher, David Kyle, who studied closely with Larry and practiced with him extensively, I feel deeply connected to his legacy and the spirit of this incredible practice.

WHAT ARE THE ROCKET® SEQUENCES?

Throughout this training, we will explore Rocket I, Rocket II, Rocket III, and the Rocket® Hybrid sequence. These sequences were developed by combining key postures from the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, creating a dynamic and progressive practice that is both challenging and accessible.

A major focus of this training is helping students build the strength, mobility, and confidence needed to progress safely through the Rocket® sequences. You'll learn the effective drills, strengthening techniques, and methodology passed down through the teachings of Larry Schultz and David Kyle, while also exploring the philosophy of Rocket® Yoga and how to integrate the practice as a way of life, both on and off the mat.
