A New Way to Experience Rocket® Yoga
The 50-hour Rocket® Golden Gate Method Yoga Teacher Training is an immersive exploration of Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, better known as Rocket® Yoga.
This new training combines the freedom and creativity of Rocket® with the individual attention of an Ashtanga Mysore-style room. Rather than moving through the same sequence at the same pace, you will enter an open practice space with a three-hour window in which to explore Rocket I, Rocket II, Rocket III, and hybrid sequences according to your experience, energy, and individual needs.
You will learn the sequences directly from me, develop greater independence in your practice, and receive personalized guidance throughout the training.
Why “Golden Gate”?
Rocket® was born in San Francisco, where Larry Schultz developed this progressive approach to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
The Golden Gate Bridge represents both the birthplace of Rocket® and the deeper intention behind the Golden Gate Method: to create a bridge between tradition and progression, structure and freedom, teacher and student.
Each posture…and the practice itself… can be seen as a golden portal: an invitation to explore new possibilities, experiment with curiosity, and continue evolving within the series.
There is no single destination and no demand for perfection. Everyone is welcome to enter the practice exactly where they are, discover their own path through it, and allow the Rocket® sequences to grow with them.
The Golden Gate Method
The Golden Gate Method is inspired by the traditional Ashtanga Mysore room, a space in which each student practices independently while receiving one-to-one support from the teacher.
Within this setting, there is time to observe, communicate, assist, explore, and adapt. You are invited to work at your own pace rather than trying to keep up with a led class. This creates space for a more personal, embodied understanding of the Rocket® sequences.
The method opens the door to a different kind of energy in the Rocket® room: focused yet free, disciplined yet playful, traditional yet progressive.
You will have the opportunity to:
Deepen your personal Rocket® practice;
Learn and embody the structures of Rocket I, II, and III;
Explore creative Rocket® hybrids and intelligent transitions;
Understand how to adapt the practice for different bodies and abilities;
Develop confidence in self-practice;
Receive personalized feedback and guidance;
Learn how to observe and support students within an open practice room;
Explore the art of hands-on assisting;
Experience two led classes in the beginning and end of the training.
Hands-On Assists
Hands-on assists are an important part of the Golden Gate Method.
Throughout the training, you will explore how touch can support awareness, direction, stability, spaciousness, and ease within a posture. You will learn to assist with sensitivity and purpose, responding to the person in front of you rather than imposing a fixed idea of how a pose should look.
We will work with observation, communication, consent, body mechanics, and the appropriate use of pressure. You will also explore when hands-on support may be helpful, when a verbal or visual cue may be more appropriate, and when it is best to allow the student to discover the movement independently.
The intention is not to push the body deeper. It is to help each practitioner experience greater clarity, confidence, and connection.
An Immersive Learning Experience
This training is designed for teachers and dedicated practitioners who want to explore more than simply memorizing a sequence.
You can join the experience in one of two ways:
Teacher Training: Take part in the complete 50-hour program, including the Golden Gate morning practices, workshops, lectures, discussions, and certification requirements.
Retreat Experience: Join the Golden Gate morning practices and enjoy free time at the beach, along with the activities offered by the venue, without attending the workshops and lectures or completing the certification component. Please contact me for more details.
Through practice, observation, hands-on work, discussion, and direct experience, teacher-training participants will develop a deeper understanding of how Rocket® Yoga can be practiced, adapted, and shared.
The Golden Gate room becomes a living laboratory, a place to ask questions, investigate movement, work with individual needs, and learn through genuine human connection.
Honoring Tradition, Embracing Possibility
At the heart of this training is a deep respect for the traditions of yoga and the lineage of Ashtanga Vinyasa.
Through practice, meditation, philosophy, and discussion, we will explore the roots from which Rocket® Yoga grew while considering how these teachings can live meaningfully in our modern lives.
We honor the wisdom of the past without allowing ourselves to be limited by it. Rocket® invites us to question, adapt, explore, and move forward with intelligence, respect, and courage.
Experience the Magic of Goa
Goa’s vibrant energy and natural beauty provide an inspiring backdrop for this journey.
With tranquil beaches and lush tropical landscapes just a short walk from the venue, you will have space to practice deeply, slow down, reconnect with nature, and return to the present moment.
Goa invites both exploration and stillness, the perfect balance for an immersive yoga experience.
Our Home: Ashiyana Yoga Retreat Village
The training will take place at the beautiful Ashiyana Yoga Retreat Village, surrounded by tropical gardens and peaceful waterways.
With dedicated yoga spaces, comfortable accommodation, nourishing food, and serene natural surroundings, three swimming pools… Ashiyana offers a supportive sanctuary for practice, learning, connection, and rest.
Throughout your stay, you will enjoy delicious plant-based meals prepared with love and care.
Fresh, wholesome ingredients come together in vibrant dishes designed to nourish the body, support your practice, and celebrate health, vitality, and sustainability.
The nearby beaches offer time and space to unwind after practice, whether you choose to stroll along the sand, swim in the sea, or simply watch the sun disappear over the horizon.
From resting beneath the palms to listening to the rhythm of the ocean, Goa’s coastline offers endless opportunities to recharge and reconnect.

During these 7 days of Rocket® YTT, we're diving into practice, learning, sweating, laughing, and bonding over poolside chats, beach strolls, and communal meals! A great opportunity to feel the strong sense of community created by this practice. This YTT in Rocket®, also known as Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, specializes in the sequences created by Larry Schultz (a long-time student of the founder of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, K. Pattabhi Jois) with the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system as a base. These systems have deep similarities but obvious differences, and the combination of both will allow students to enhance their opportunity for further growth and deepen their practices, demystifying the boundaries created by some progression limits of the traditional Ashtanga practice.
I haven't met Larry in person, but I deeply sense his legacy by experiencing this method, and also by savoring all the insights and inspiring stories shared by David Kyle, my teacher, who was a close student and practiced with Larry extensively.
We will cover the series of Rocket® I, Rocket® II, and Rocket® III. These series were developed by combining key postures of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
The vast majority of this training is focused on increasing the student's ability to progress into the postures of the series through the valuable modifications, strengthening techniques, and drills offered by Larry Schultz and David Kyle’s teachings, as well as the philosophical approach to the practice as a lifestyle.
As a 50-hour Rocket® YTT program, you will receive a 50-hour certification that can be used in the Yoga Alliance's continuous training towards 500 hours of the "Progressive Ashtanga Yoga Professional Development Program”.
In collaboration with the Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga School, we will bring the Rocket® spirit to Goa!
